Book Review: Good advice, but David Mead is *so* condescending!

This could be a great book. It contains some excellent and sage advice (as indeed it ought, with comments from the royalty of guitar playing like David Gilmour, Brian May, John Williams, et al), and this content deserves a 5 star review.
Unfortunately, David Mead's writing style is exceedingly irritating, which is why I have had to give it three stars. Mead's insipid attempts at humour only succeed in being irksome, and I resent being patronised, told to 'listen up', informed that I have a 'sweaty little hand', and reminded just what a fabulous teacher Mr Mead is. I dread to think how smug he is in the flesh. All this is inexcusable from someone who is (was?) an editor of Guitar Techniques magazine and I suspect this volume would benefit from some objective editing and someone else suggesting Mead rein himself in. It's all a shame, because the structure of the book and the advice offered is invaluable. Anyone who thanks Nescaf? (drink some decent coffee, man!), 'the wine makers of the Bordeaux region of France' (how sophisticated!) and Lara Croft (ummm...), and names his Mac 'Lucy' in the acknowledgements is destined to get my back up, so please don't be too put off by my gripes. If you can see through the poor authorship to the wisdom beneath, it's very much a recommended read.
