Book Reviews of 52, Vol. 1

Book Review: A great read
Summary: 5 Stars

If you know who all the characters are in this series and what has previously happened in the DC universe, you will really enjoy this first volume.

Read the crisis books before this one.

Book Review: A lot to keep track of but its worth the effort!
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm not a huge DC Comics fan. I know some of the history but not a ton. I went into this with an open mind and really enjoyed it. The four different writers all had their voices heard and the art was usually very good. I loved reading the real time thoughts of the creators of the behind the scenes goings on. It was pretty fascinating on its own. I look forward to the next volume and hope I can keep up.

Book Review: A very good beginning of the series
Summary: 5 Stars

In the aftermath of Infinite Crisis, DC Comics launched an ambitious 52 week story arc that covered the DC world for one year. It tells the stories of the various DC characters as they deal with the new world with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman gone. Many of your favorite DC heroes are here, including Booster Gold, the Elongated Man, John Henry Irons, Adam Strange, Black Adam, and many more.

Overall, I think that this graphic novel was a very good beginning of the series of four, with this one covering weeks one to thirteen. Now, as you might expect, with the first book of a four book series, this book begins many storylines, but seems to end none of them. But, for all that, it does tell quite a few interesting stories, and contains a lot of great action and adventure. So, let me just say that I really enjoyed this book and do not hesitate to recommend it!

Book Review: Addictive Series
Summary: 5 Stars

Ive read the entire series and love it. The first book sinks its teeth into you and makes you crave more 52! Morrison, Johns,Rucka, Waid and Giffen. Just looking at those writers makes you pretty sure this is going to be a great series without even looking at the first page. The big three at DC arent in this book in their traditional roles, and to be honest you dont miss them. Booster Gold, The Question, Black Adam and more less known DC heroes and villians fill the void. Individual stories of these characters connect and interweave in ways that only these master stoytellers can tell. Im not going to spoil anything since you should experience everything for yourself. Also the fact that this series was weekly and the whole thing was done in a year is an impressive feat. If you buy this book you will most likely run out and buy the next one as soon as you get done reading it. Great Read, Entertaining, Complex and Satisfying.

Book Review: Ambitious Entertainment
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm no longer a constant comics reader, but love to pick up a graphic novel once in a while. This one was worth the expense.

The many interweaving storylines serve to propel the story along and the artwork is top-notch. Especially interesting to me are the Gotham sequences and the Ralph Dibny storyline. The story features some of the best and most inventive writing I've encountered in comic format.

I'll be back for Volume 2!
