Book Review: A good overview of the ins and outs of life in a group home.
Summary: 4 Stars
This book details the creation and daily life of a group home for the mentally ill. The author has done a nice job of presenting the myriad of characters involved in the home. While the clients living there take center stage, attention is also paid to those who run the home, as well as the politicians and bureaucrats who were involved in the formation of the house. The mini-biographies of those living in the home make for compelling reading as you come to understand their disorders and how it impacts their lives and those arround them. Furthermore, I found it interesting to read about the kind of battles social workers face in establishing a group home. Anyone who has ever feared the impact of a group home in their neighborhood would gain some insights from this book.
