Book Review: Easy to Read and To the Point Summary: 4 StarsThis book is benificial for any parent looking into their options to homeschool. Levison gets to the point and brings an educational philosophy into a practical light. Whether you choose the CM method or not, the chapter on The Formation of Habit is benificial for ANY parent to read.
Book Review: Levison's book helps you get started! Summary: 5 StarsI've read three books from Charlotte Mason's six-volume set, loved them, and am glad they're on my shelf. However, Catherine Levison's little book is the one that helped me to get started adding nature study, art appreciation, and poetry into our homeschool. And now even science is studied in a more literary manner. CM's ideas are wonderful...I'm glad Levison gave us a helping hand toward implementation.
Book Review: A great introduction to a Charlotte Mason Education. Summary: 5 StarsA Charlotte Mason Education is a great introduction to this approach to teaching children. The majority of the book gives "how to" instructions on the different areas to be taught. A person can begin using one or more of these techniques before or while reading Charlotte Mason's, The Original Homeschooling Series, a six volume set. Catherine explains how she "eased into the Charlotte Mason approach" without implying that everyone's experience will be the same. As a teacher of 20 years, I have greatly appreciated Catherine's guidance in introducing the Charlotte Mason method in my teaching.
Book Review: Helpful and useful---a real treasure! Summary: 5 StarsI wasn't sure after reading some of Miss Mason's original works exactly how to apply the method practically in my own educational efforts with my children. This helpful little book steered me toward Real World applications better than anything else I had yet found in any other Charlotte Mason related books or resources. The topical treatment of the various academic subjects was easy for me to use. I think this is a great book to start with if you're new to Charlotte Mason's ideas. Practical, practical, practical!
