Book Review: A Rare Piece of Insight on Viet Nam
Summary: 4 Stars
My husband and I both read this book and enjoyed it immensely, and we don't usually enjoy the same type of book. It is extremely well written in a sophisticated style. The history of the early days of intervention in Viet Nam give the reader a window into a culture that we know little about. This book is also reminiscent of our involvement in Iraq, insofar as Americans (including the government), keep trying to predict how a different culture will react, without taking into consideration that we HAVE NO IDEA what fuels their bahvior or whether it is even possible to "change" it more to our liking. Consequently, we keep getting it wrong.
