Book Reviews of A Dirty Job: A Novel

Book Review: What a wonderful Novel
Summary: 5 Stars

Each time I think I've read the best Moore has to offer, I'm pleasantly surprised and "A Dirty Job" is no exception. The novel alternates between scenes that made me actually laugh out loud to writing that was so perceptive of the human condition. As another reviewer mentioned, the scene with the cheese was touching, heartfelt and felt so very real.

This is simply a wonderful book and it has vaulted into my top ten all time list.

Book Review: love it
Summary: 5 Stars

this book, along with "fluke" and "lamb", is one of christopher moore's greatest hits. i have read "stupidest angel" and the most recent "you suck" the latter being my least favorite so far. this book is funny from beginning to end and a very enjoyable read. if you are into this then definitely check out "Good Omens" by neil gaiman and terry pratchett. moore rules.

Book Review: Laughing at Mortality
Summary: 5 Stars

Christopher Moore must be the most talented writer of humorous fiction alive today. While most authors are content with a few good one-liners, Moore takes absurdity to a new level. Even death itself is not safe from the witty pen of Moore.

In "A Dirty Job", Moore looks at the afterlife in a completely new perspective. Because this is fiction, the absurd views expressed in this book should offend very few. After death, the deceased's soul attaches itself to a prized possession. It is the job of a death merchant to deliver that possession and soul to its next body. Charlie Asher is far from the intimidating specter of death, yet finds himself a new death merchant after his wife's passing. If this does not disturb him enough, Asher's newborn daughter Sophie is guarded by hellhounds and has the apparent power to cause death by pointing to a person and saying "kitty". If that does not bring a smile to your face, wait until you meet the squirrel people.

Without recanting too much of the story, I will tell you that the situations created by the plot create some hilarious situations. This is a book to tell your friends with a healthy sense of humor about. If you like Moore's previous work, you are certain to love this.

Book Review: The Toast of Death
Summary: 5 Stars

I loved this book! It was my first experience with Christopher Moore. The cover of the book caught my eye, and after reading the description I had to buy it.

The book is funny, witty, and sad from time to time. I laughed so hard at some parts that my sides hurt afterwards. Christopher Moore is a genius when it comes to dark humor, and since reading this one I've bought nearly all of his other books. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a good, funny read that's a bit different from the mainstream.

Book Review: My new favorite book
Summary: 5 Stars

This was the second Christopher Moore book I've read and I laughed so hard while reading it I had to stop reading it at work. Mr. Moore is an amazing author and has a way of seeing the world that makes me wish he could sit in my head and provide commentary 24/7. In a world where people lose themselves in gory mysteries and vapid romance novels it's nice to find an author who's clever enough to make you laugh.
