Book Reviews of A New IBS SolutionBook Review: Crucial information for anyone with IBS-related symptoms Summary: 5 Stars
I had a severe, disabling intestinal pain that went on day in and day out for many months, while I was going through all kinds of tests at a major hospital. The only thing they found was a bunch of diverticuli ("bubbles") on the wall of my small intestine and jujenum, but the specialist I was referred to said that "this couldn't possibly cause the pain."
After exhausting all other possibilities I confronted him with Dr. Pimentel's research results as described in this book (and published more widely in the fall of 2006), but this was promptly described as very unlikely to be valid. Out of options and in a lot of pain, I somehow managed to convince him that it would make sense to at least try it anyway.
Five days later I celebrated the end of my five months of continuous 24/7 suffering!
Two pills morning and evening, a new unique antibiotic that did all the work, and it took two months before the problem came back.
Then it was time for realization #2 from Dr. Pimentel's work as described in the book. I was lactose intolerant, eliminated this from my diet, and haven't had a recurrence since.
Amazingly, it seems very few specialists even know about Dr. Pimentel's research at Cedars-Sinai Hospital on this. Arm yourself with this book, and don't give up until you get good answers from your doctor!
Book Review: Dramatic relief from my IBS Summary: 5 Stars
After more than a decade of IBS suffering, Pimental's protocol outlined in this book did the trick for me. Read it, called Cedar's for a gastro referral in Northern Calif, and the rest is history. Now I'm normal again, never thought it possible! Wow...best medical advice I ever received. Thanks to the doctor's at Cedar's who did the clinical research; they truly have increased my quality of life.
Book Review: FINALLY RELIEF! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is a must for anyone suffering from IBS. I have been suffering with this disease for 40 plus years. I was fortunate to get an appointment with Dr. Mark Pimental. He ordered the lactulose breath test and I was diagnosed with SIBO. Within 5 days on the antibiotics I was 90 per cent better. A year later I am still under treatment and although I get occassional flare ups, my life is pretty much normal. I can travel, eat out, go to friends without the constant worry of an attacl. Although, the diet can be restrictive it is better than always being sick.
There is help for SIBO sufferers, read this book!
Book Review: Finally, a viable IBS solution Summary: 4 Stars
As a lifetime sufferer of severe IBS, I recommend this book to all my fellow IBSers nationwide. My IBS doc in Dallas (Dr. John Hyatt) recently had me try Pimentel's treatment methodology (Xifaxan followed by Zelnorm) with incredible results. Read this book, talk to your doctor about it, and if all else fails, go see Hyatt.
Book Review: Good book for those who had acute gastritiis followed by IBS Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the book, read it and know it describes what I have even though the doctors I have seen say, "Really, you mean you have had this for 20+ years?".
I think if the doctor was firm in his conviction then he would not object to a very small stool sample placed in a capsule followed by a tall glass of water. I mean really, your doubt is not so certain is it?
