Book Reviews of A Princess Primer: A Fairy Godmother's Guide to Being a PrincessBook Review: Beautifully hand crafted unlike any other Summary: 5 Stars
This book and the rest in the collection are absolutely beautiful and one of a kind. There is A LOT to see in these books.
The princess primer shows how to wear your hair elegantly, design a classy dress, what type of material shows royalty, jewelry, etiquette you name it this book has it and with very beautiful pictures, drawings and pieces of materials that you can feel.
It's definitely a HANDS ON book.. not just something you read but to look at, flip through or whatever. Does not need to be read from front to back.. just flip through.
Book Review: Bought for its whimsy...not its socially correct content Summary: 5 Stars
I read through all of the reviews and have to agree that I love the concept---with the flip up pages and fun girly girl theme. After having read the reviews about its shallowness I have decided that I will have to read every word of this book and come up with my own conclusion before reading it to my daughter (That will be awhile---I bought it for her first birthday just because I thought it was so cute---and it was 70% off retail price!). The levitating comment worried me a bit and as far as the shallowness of superficial beauty---well that just isn't the American or even western standard anymore. That being said, we still don't have to conform to that standard. I am as guilty as the next mom for telling my daughter how pretty she is every single day, but I feel that a well-rounded, well-raised child will turn out just fine---even if they read this silly book. While I definitely agree with concerns about self-image and outer beauty being a top priority, a girl can still have fun imagining she is a princess. I will just strive to keep her involved in other types of fun, as well. Overall, I think it will be a book she will treasure. I do have to agree that the artwork is a little cheesy---the people did not appear very realistic.
Book Review: Cute Book Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this book for my granddaughter's 8th birthday. She just loved the activities and the pictures. Any one that likes princess stories will like this story book.
Book Review: Daughter loves it Summary: 5 Stars
My 7 yr old daughter says "she loves it. It has a code that you have to figure out." We got this from library, and she loved it so much, we bought a copy.
Book Review: Delightful and involving Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this book for my niece, for Christmas, and she loved it. This book stands out because of it's use of textures and interactive items. For example, within the discussion of the proper attire for a princess there are actual samples of satin, lace, and velvet for the child to touch. There are envelopes with removable contents, like the invitation and menu for the wedding of the prince and princess.
A couple of the earlier reviews commented negatively on the art. I found the art delightful. I believe that those reviewers had an expectation that the art would by "Disney-like". It isn't and I think that is to the book's benefit.
