Book Reviews of A Princess Primer: A Fairy Godmother's Guide to Being a PrincessBook Review: Not up to par Summary: 2 Stars
I have purchased all of the other books of this type and this is by far the least appealing of them all. It's geared toward 6-yr-olds who want to play dress-up.
Book Review: Or, how to teach your daughters to be irredeemably shallow Summary: 1 Stars
My daughters love everything princess, and, as much as it sometimes makes me cringe, I have always cheerfully gone along with it. I have had to draw the line, however, at this book. One of my daughters brought it home from the library, and after reading a few pages to her, I was appalled, and she was bored. The problem is not just that the book concerns mainly such vital issues as what is the appropriate material for a gown for any given occasion, but that the tone of the book is generally unpleasant and un-fun. Its message seems to be that being a princess is only about looking beautiful, and that this is hard work but must be done. I can't see one redeeming quality in this book, as it doesn't even have the token lessons in good manners that other "princess" books have --a throwaway line at the end to the effect that true beauty comes from within rings hollow given the substance of the book. I would keep the princesses in my life away from this book.
Book Review: Perfect for both young and old! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is not only a joy for young girls, but also "young girls at heart." I am buying this book for my 45 year old mother who had fallen in love with it after seeing it in a store. It makes the perfect gift because it is something she would not usually treat herself to. One is never too old to play princess.
Book Review: Stunning book! Summary: 4 Stars
This was purchased for my daughters 5th birthday party. It is a stunning book, and one of her favorites....she sits and daydreams about being a princess whenever she looks at the book. I would have given it 5 stars, but a couple of the pictures are a bit disturbing and scare my daughter (and even me a little!)
Book Review: The Look on My Daughter's Face will Stay with Me Forever Summary: 5 Stars
Gave this to my daughter on her 5th bday. I really didn't need to give her any other gift. She SLEPT with it for about 10 nights in a row and asked it to be read to her OVER AND OVER. It's a wonderful book for feeding the imagination especially if you have a girl who loves princesses.
