Book Review: DPT~A Shot in the Dark

I have a 34 year old vaccine (DPT) damaged daughter. I first heard of this book when my daughter was 10 years old. I was DUMBFOUNDED how common these reactions are, and this book is a wealth of information from the history of vaccine reactions to personal situations.
I have purchased this several times to give to mothers who are in the same situation.
This book is still VERY RELEVANT today as the government is wanting us to give our loved ones so many UNnecessary or UNtested vaccines for things that we DON'T NEED! And sadly, we have even more damaged children in today's society. (When my daughter was 'diagnosed', the chance of an 'adverse reaction' was 1 in 310,000, but TODAY it is 1 in 66!!!)
This is a MUST READ for ANY person who has a loved one that has been damaged by immunizations of ANY TYPE!

What is wrong with people? Why do you think there is some conspiracy to hurt children with immunizations?
The development of vaccines is the most important invention in the history of medicine. They have saved millions of lives - that is a fact.
There is always risk to any medical treatment - but parents who do not vaccinate their children are putting their children at risk for serious medical problems. Please do not put your trust in one or two people on the fringes of medicine who lack even a basic education in medicine. Why would you listen to such counsel? I truly do not understand...
When your car breaks down, do you take it to the grocery story? When your pipes get clogged, do you call your banker?
When your child is sick, do you take him to a political historian? I certainly hope not.
The author of this book has no medical education other than medical history. It was written with a political bent.

If you live near an old cemetery, just take a stroll sometime and look at the dates on the old headstones from the 1800's and you will get a first-hand look at the pre-vaccine era.
And if you decide not vaccinate your children, never let them leave the United States -- at least they benefit from herd immunity here.
Book Review: Do not fail to read this book!

This book is a MUST read for parents and parents-to-be. If it has ever even occured to you that the medical system is not infallible, this book will open your eyes to a reality that most people would prefer to ignore. Vaccinations DO cause temporary and permanent damage to children every year in this country, and many of the diseases against which we are vaccinated are not as frightening as the damage caused by the vaccinations themselves.This book focuses solely on the DTaP vaccination. There are many case histories of children who were permanently brain damaged and even killed by this vaccination. In some cases more than one child in a family has been permanently injured. In others parents have had to fight in court to retain custody of their younger children when they refused to vaccinate them following severe reactions in their older children.
The companies that manufacture vaccinations are making millions of dollars per year. When a child has a permanently debilitating reaction to a vaccine, the manufacturer is not even held financially responsible - the government uses our tax dollars to compensate families through an official program called the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. Would this program even exist if it weren't obvious that vaccines DO cause damage in some instances?
This book gives great information about the kinds of children who are more likely to react to vaccinations, including those who were born prematurely or with a low birth weight, those from families with allergies and food sensitivities, and those who had family members experience vaccine reactions. It also describes in great detail the kinds of reactions one can expect from vaccinations - and which ones should not be considered "normal" despite what your pediatrician's office may tell you. If your child has received some vaccinations already and you feel uncomfortable about any symptoms he or she exhibited in the days following, READ THIS BOOK before you allow any further vaccinations. MANY children who were eventually permanently injured exhibited reactions to earlier vaccinations that were ignored or considered unimportant until hindsight provided the obvious answer.
Book Review: Good book but not far enough.
Summary: 4 Stars
The Shot in the Dark is a good book dealing with the DPT vaccine, and sure, it warns you about some of the side effects. But does it go far enough? What about all the studies on vaccination that are harmful besides just DPT? There are other books on the subject that should also be consulted, if you are really exploring the facts. Do your own due diligence, and read all sides, I know I do. It's too important to leave to bloggers for short form `facts'.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Barbara Loe Fischer and hearing her speak. There are few people as passionate about what they are speaking about then her. Her fight for the right for parents to choose what is best for their children is not only necessary but it has been an inspiration.
