Book Reviews of A Thin Dark LineBook Review: A great book Summary: 5 Stars
I just loved it. This was the first book of Tami Hoag i read. I just picked it beacouse i liked the cover. But it was just great and I feel sorry for those who havent read it!
Book Review: A great read!! Summary: 4 Stars
I wanted to say that I enjoyed the book very much. Tami Hoag's characters are both entertaining and infuriating at the same time. Overall, I thought it was a great mystery and kept me turning the pages 'til the very end. The only thing I would like say that I disliked and warn other readers about is that if you haven't read "Cry Wolf" and want to you should NOT read "A Thin Dark Line" first. I was unaware that the story of "Cry Wolf" would be referenced and the name of the killer in that story revealed in "A Thin Dark Line" and was disappointed that it was. Reader beware!
Book Review: A great suspense novel Summary: 5 Stars
This book was my introduction to Hoag's writing and I plan to read many more of her books. The book kept me guessing the entire time and had a very unpredictable ending. I read it very quickly. I really liked the fact that the main character was a woman in a male dominated profession. I found her easy to relate to and admire. Although the book nearly got to a point where it became too mushy, it didn't quite cross the line, which made the romantic parts bearable. Overall, it is a really good book for people who like either suspense or romance.
Book Review: A gripping read Summary: 5 Stars
This is a really great book. At 600 pages it's quite long, but the plot develops and builds. I liked the fact that the two main characters - Annie Brousard and Nick Fourcade got to know each other over time and they didn't rush into a romance, which often makes unbelievable an otherwise good book.
I loved the cajun expressions. For anyone that doesn't know them, there is a glossary at the end of the book. Many of terms are also used in Cry Wolf and Lucky's Lady. It adds so much atmosphere to the book and for a Cajun like me adds realism.
I did find it a bit scary at times and I didn't like having one macabre scene after another. Also, Hoag could have moderated the language sometimes. I wanted to read this on an airplane, but I felt I couldn't read it in public because of some of the language, which recently wasn't necessary much of the time.
These are minor quibbles however because the plot is amazing, the build up and characters really well written and I doubt whether anyone would know all the guilty parties until they were revealed.
It was hard to decide who to like because, at face value, no-one was completely good or completely bad. A bit like life really. I swayed between Nick and AJ but Nick won me over, as he did Annie, but I did like AJ a lot. There seemed to be history behind everyone's behavior, even the baddies, which gave the book much more depth.
I loved the main characters. I wanted them to go on and on and I hated to finish the book. Hopefully they will turn up again in another Hoag novel.
Well worth the money.
Book Review: A gripping story Summary: 5 Stars
Buy this book, you won't regret it. It is so good. Like all Ms Hoag's works, you get a lot of book for your money and a book you can read and reread.
