Book Reviews of A Thin Dark LineBook Review: First book I've read by Tami Hoag Summary: 4 Stars
I thought it was pretty good. It certainly wasn't dull, although at nearly 600 pages it probably could have been cut down a bit. I enjoyed the book and will read more by Tami Hoag. My only complaint/concern or problem with the book was the heroine, Annie Broussard. What she went through, what grief she took from co-workers, and then the physical abuse her body took in the last 50 pages of the book....Well, she's a better man than...well, a better man than almost any man I could think of. Small and petite she may have been, but this was one tough lady both mentally and physically. We got a lot in this book about how tough Nick Fourcade was....Yeah right!...Annie puts him to shame. The point here is that I liked the book and the resolution came as a complete surprise. I think it's time to start another Tami Hoag book right now. Later.
Book Review: First novel I've read by this author - fantastic setting!! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this book from my Book Club - never heard of Tami Hoag before. What a thriller! Just enough sexual tension to let one know that they are going to end up together and they didn't let it get in the way of solving the crime. Unfortunately in NIGHT SINS that seemed to happen. I back-tracked with Tami's other books and it seems to me she is just getting better - the others I could put down for a while! This one made me want to watch "The Big Easy" video again just for the setting. Give us more Cajun, Tami!!
Book Review: Full of suspense; a complete pleasure to read Summary: 5 Stars
There's no dull moment for Nick and Annie in this one. I gave this one a 5 on my list, unfortunately that was before I started leaving my reviews on Amazon. I'm taking the time to share all my 5 star reads in hope you'll read them and enjoy them as much as I did.
Book Review: Glad I didn't pass this one up! Summary: 5 Stars
I have noticed this audiobook at the library for a long time and finally checked it out as my choices are dwindling. Was I ever glad I did! This turned out to be such a great suspense, thriller, mystery, and even a bit of romance all in one. Narrator George Guidell, from Recorded Books, once again has outdone himself in portraying all the characters. The author starts the story out making the reader believe a sadistic murderer has been set free because of a technicality, and the detective now on the case isn't doing much to solve it. To make matters worse, women are being raped and even killed, all with similar circumstances. That's when deputy Annie Broussard and detective Nick Fourcade decide to secretly do some investigating on their own. She is being ostracized by her fellow police officers for arresting Fourcade after she caught him beating Marcus Renard, the suspected murderer, nearly to death. The story shifts suspicion from Renard, to a detective, even to Renard's autistic brother. Marcus develops an obsession with Annie when he believes she saved his life, and though it helps with her investigation, she is also becoming very afraid of him. The ending has some real surprising twists and keeps the reader guessing all the way. This is the first book I have read by Tami Hoag, but if this is any indication, I will have to get my hands on the rest.
Book Review: Good Characterization but did not lead anywhere. Summary: 3 Stars
Excellent characterization of Detective Fourcade and Deputy Broussard but the book failed to flow to it's conclusion. Many important connections to the plot were cut, much like a movie that has run over budget, not fully giving the reader a chance to take part in the drama.
