Book Reviews of A Wrinkle in Time (Madeleine L'Engle's Time Quintet)Book Review: A book of many levels Summary: 5 Stars
I was in the third grade when our teacher had us read this book. The other teachers thought she was nuts - too difficult of a book to read. We had to make pictures of our favorite characters - mine was Charles Wallace. It was the best experience I had in my grade school years. I have since read the book probably 10 times. I have given the book as gifts to my nephews and nieces. At 32, I have put this story into the memories that have shaped my childhood. I thank Mrs. Write, my third grade teacher, for directing us toward our imaginations. And to Madeleine L'Engle for giving no boundaries to our imagination.
Book Review: A book one never forgets! Summary: 5 Stars
My sixth grade teacher read this book to my class, a chapter a day, after lunch. I couldn't wait for each day's reading. My friends and I would go out at recess and pretend that we were the characters in the book. We tried to run fast, on our tiptoes just like they did in the book.
When the teacher finished the story, I checked it out from our school library.
I am working on my own novel for children, and this is one book that I will read over and over as an example to me of excellent writing.
Book Review: A book that stands the test of time Summary: 4 Stars
My grandmother gave me (along with my lifelong love of books)a copy of "A Wrinkle in Time" for my 10th birthday. I've probably read it 5 times since then. The adventures of Meg, Charles Wallace and Calvin share a special place in my memories of childhood. It is always the 1st book I recommend to friends for their children and I have given copies to my nieces. I can't wait until my newest nephew is old enough to read it. He will certainly be getting a copy.
Book Review: A book you will keep and read over and over forever ! Summary: 5 Stars
I was first given this dusty ... hardcovered book my Nanna in 1980. It had belonged to my uncle ,she said, who read it for school in around 1970. I took it home and put it on my bookshelf and didn't give it another thought until I had to read it for school in 1982. I picked it up one afternoon and never put it down again until I had finished reading the whole book(in the wee small hours of the next morning) It was fantastic! Madelaine was an amazing author. The way she wrote, you felt like you were there with the characters, experiencing what they were. Even now 21 years later, I still read my dusty ... hardcover book over and over again, at least once a year. I've even passed it onto my 10 year old son to read and he thinks it's awesome! Almost as good as 'Harry Potter'! Ha! Ha! If you get the chance read Madeline L'Engle's wonderful story of friendship and courage. A Wrinkle in Time is a timeless book for all ages!
Book Review: A child's favorite Summary: 5 Stars
This and the C.S Lewis Narnia series were my favorite stories as a child, I read them over and over until the covers fell off! I am planning to give them to a niece.
