Book Review: A Fantastic Fantasy
Summary: 4 Stars

I liked A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'engle for many different reasons. I loved this book because the author grabbed my attention right away, with an exciting first chapter. I thought each character played an important role, meaning there were no characters that were not needed for the plot. It was marvelous how evil the author made the villains. The book would not have been as enjoyable if the villains were not such a pest to the other characters. I love how detailed the chapters were and how complicated the story line was. I disliked how there were some points in the chapters that were very boring and were not really needed for the plot. I also disliked how the ending to the book. Most novels that I enjoy reading are realistic fiction, such as Black Hawk Down. While A Wrinkle in Time was fantasy, I had a real hard time getting involved with the plot. I enjoy novels that I can relate to the characters and there roles in the book. I really enjoyed this book because it made you think and try to anticipate the next twist within the plot. Overall I did enjoy this book tremendously and I would recommend this book to others who enjoy fantasies and who like to outthink the author.

Book Review: A Fantastical Tale without Magic!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book starts with possibly the most clichéd opening sentence of all time: 'It was a dark and stormy night.' However, the story that follows is both original and charming.
Meg and her younger brother Charles Wallace go in search of their beloved missing father, whose experiments have left him trapped in a parallel dimension. With the help of three mysterious witch-like characters they tesser (travel through a wrinkle in time) to rescue him, but face many dangers and adventures along the way.

Both Meg and Charles Wallace are endearing multi-faceted characters. I especially like the fact they are considered to be below normal intelligence by the educational system, yet undoubtedly have much higher IQs than their teachers. Both show the rare insight and depth of understanding granted to few ... and recognised by even fewer. This is a wonderfully empowering message to young readers who are made to feel less than adequate at school. The writing style has a clarity and simplicity that makes it a pleasure to read. Recommended for readers aged 8 - 11.

Book Review: A Fantasy Worth Reading.
Summary: 5 Stars

I am eleven years old, and I read this book one year ago. Although it starts out slowly, it soon speeds up, and becomes very interesting. I really like this book, however, it can get a little confusing.

Book Review: A Fun, Easy Read
Summary: 5 Stars

Somehow this book slipped through the required reading list in my school days, and that was entirely my loss. I'm a 36 years young homemaker who needed to read something fun without pages of character development. While surfing through books at Amazon.com I remembered I had never read this book and had heard that it was very good. I liked the idea that it was written for a young audience. I happen to be very young at heart so this book was right up my alley.

I am very glad I have read this book. I intend to buy the three sequels too. I like how the story starts right away. I identify with Meg. One of the themes in the book is accepting who you are and taking the bad with the good. I like how Meg's impatient and stubborn nature was looked at as two good qualities to have.

Children of all ages will enjoy this book and get a lot out of it. I highly recommend it.
