Book Review: "Chic-Lit" garbage for tweens
Summary: 1 Stars
This book is akin to "Chic-Lit" for tweens. My 11 year-old just read it as a required summer read. She found it "boring" and "inapproriate." She states there was no real plot nor character development. (hence boring) The "inappropriate" aspect was the introduction of themes of pre-marital sex and teen pregnancy. She brought this to my attention and I am chagrined that these themes are discussed at this age level. As a parent I would like to be the one to discuss these value/moral issues with my children! In summary the book is poorly written, does not raise the bar for young ladies in our culture and, as my daughter says "too pre-teen American person."
