Book Review: Not sure about this one ...
Summary: 3 Stars
Having thoroughly enjoyed other Dekker books, in particular 'Three' I eagerly began Adam with similar expectations.
The beginning of the book and right up until about half-way was a deliciously scary experience, I believed totally in the characters and the horrific events were all too life-like. I wouldn't read the book alone in my house at night!
However, where Dekker lost me was in the rather laboured approach towards the end, Daniel's torment which seemed very drawn-out and, for me, his deliverance not adequately explained.
Nor was the power of Good (God) really developed, I was expecting a boy as in previous novels to represent Christ and instead we just had one who appeared as a malevolent spirit with a female name.
I was also curious as to what happened to Alice and her husband.
The unveiling of Jessica was a nice touch but not enough to prevent my disappointment by this stage.
So, I'm not sure whether I'd really recommend this one, for me there was too much concentration on evil and I felt the end rather fizzled out so I wasn't left satisfied not uplifted in any way.
