Book Review: **** Warning **** Not for beginners!!!
Summary: 4 Stars
As always, Katrin Eismann delivers. Her Photoshop books and videos are the best bar none. She tackles on the most challenging subjects, like how to fix old color photos and how to make skin look perfect, without looking fake. I have bought countless books on the subject such as Skin: The Complete Guide to Digitally Lighting, Photographing, and Retouching Faces and Bodies, and many others. The techniques by Eismann are far superior. Skin has tips and tricks which most are easily found at various websites, blogs, and forums. These techniques will satisfy 98% of the people wanting to learn retouch, and they are fine if you goal is to achieve good enough results. However, if you goal is to master retouching and are willing to spend hours on a single image to create perfection, then you need this book.
The only critique I have for this book is the layout. I hope that with CS5 coming out in a few weeks Eismann will release a new book with a better layout. If she does, I will immediately buy it. I also hope her publisher releases it on the kindle store. I have Kindle for the iPad and it is amazing. It is a godsend for reading in dimly lit rooms.
