Book Review: Perfect for preschool or early kindergarten

The children in the book are making the shapes of the numbers with their bodies. The children in my classroom find this to be one of their favorites. On their own, they began to make the shapes of the numbers with their bodies nearly every day during their free book reading time using the book as a guide. There have been as many as 9 children at one time making shapes together.This is important in that, by doing this the children are demonstrating their awareness that books can be used as a reference instructional guide, and by making the number shapes with their bodies, it enhancing their kinesthetic awareness of the shapes involved in writing numbers. It is also a lot of social bonding fun. One of the best features is that the skin color of the children in the illustrations varies from light to dark. It is difficult to find children's books reflecting the real world's range of skin color.
