Book Review: Liberation?
Summary: 3 Stars

It seems odd to talk about the 'liberation' of Vienna. Austria, after all, was not liberated by the Allies, but defeated and formally occupied. Austria provided a disproportionate number of extermination camp personnel, and a disproportionate number of members of Einsatzgruppen which hunted down Jews for extermination. Austria was a willing part of the Third Reich, and that is why it was divided into occupation zones like Germany and occupied by the victorious Allies.
