One of the books I've started several times - because I'd heard from different sides that they liked it - but I just wasn't interested.
So, a couple of nights ago I woke up at 3 a.m. for no apparent reason. And couldn't go back to sleep. So I grabbed this, and turns out I couldn't put it down. I'm not sure what was different this time around, but it totally drew me in.
I think it was the characters. Even though they fall into some of the pitfalls that make lesfic seem all the same - they are, of course, beautiful and rich, and in this case famous - they totally grew on me during just the first pages.
The romance proceeds slowly, there are twists and turns, but none of them seem forced or contrived, the whole thing reads very smoothly. And it is long. 300+ pages which really gives the author time to build a world and characters that I loved to spend time with. Very satisfying escape.
There were little things that bugged me, but they didn't really distract from the enjoyment while reading it.
