Book Review: Wow...I can hardly believe I've rediscovered this book!!

I've been trying to track down this book for decades! All I could remember about it was: green cover, clever kids, and forts...God bless all the librarians, bookstore owners and others I have been badgering all these years! Lo and behold, after only two weeks on AbeBooks "Book Sleuth" list, I am anxiously awaiting my very own copies from Amazon. I don't think I've ever read more than two reviews of ANYTHING on the Net, and here I've just finished reading all 61 comments on this book...and I don't mind admitting that I, too got a little teary-eyed in the process. When I visit my parents, I sometimes hike back into the fields to find the almost-filled-in remains of the hole I dug as a kid while trying to make my own underground house. (The tree houses, sadly, are all gone.) I thank you, Doris Burn. I only hope that somehow you are able to read what we have written so that you know how much your book has meant to so many of us!

I bought this on a whim and gave it to one of my grandchildren. It turned out to be one of her dad's favorite books from his childhood. He actually has built structures similar to Henry's meadow structures as a result! I highly recommend this book to encourage creativity in children and adults too.Book Review: andrew henry

This was my husband's favorite book when he was a child, so i ordered it for our 6 year old. They both love it, still. Very cute book, easy enough for my 6 year old to read & it's always nice to be able to share favorites of our childhood with our children. my little boy just can't stop reading this book, he wants to build an underground house now. while most children are not as handy with tools as Andrew Henry, they all can dream, and may try to build things they would never have considered themselves capable to build. highly recommended.
