Book Reviews of Animal: The Definitive Visual Guide to the World's WildlifeBook Review: A wondeful compendium Summary: 5 StarsThis book is really a good buy. My kids love it,
because it has an illustration for every single animal, a
description, useful information and is quite well orginized.
The information provided is up to date and the descriptions
understandable. A bit heavy may be. A very nice introduction
to the animal kingdom.
Book Review: The animal world Summary: 5 StarsI bought for my daughter of 16 years and she loved, it is well ilustrated and with lots of information and I considered cheap for the information inside.
Book Review: Wow! Spellbinding!! Summary: 5 StarsI ordered this book at the insistence of my eleven-year old son, studying in Singapore. I do not know how he got to know about it: but enough to understand that good work spreads. Having bought it, I must say that this amazing book is one of the finest investments that I made for my son. Ever since I got it for him, he is hooked to it. The presentation and the approach is stunning, to say the least. It helps in his various school projects. It also encourages him to understand why we must love the animals and protect them. We, as parents, are also charmed by the newfound knowledge that we are gaining. Simply put, this investment gives you more than the bang for the buck. It is a must for every home.
Book Review: Our son's favorite book, read daily! 10 Stars! Summary: 5 StarsAt the top of our 5 year olds book list is an encyclopedia: The Smithsonian's Animal.
A gift from his grandparents, this book -- while not a childrens book really -- has become one of his daily "reads". We have spent countless hours exploring this book with all of it's amazing species from every corner of the animal kingdom. He often chooses this book as one of his nightly books to read. When he does this we choose a few pages from the front of the book -- which covers habitats and other broad topics such as anatomy, classifications, conservation and life cycles -- or we choose a small family or large genus to read about. Often we choose the animals to read about from events in the day, whether from a science show, another book, or an animal spotted in town or at the aquarium.
With more than 2,000 species detailed and at least that many breathtaking photographs this is a visually and informationally rich resource. It is beautifully designed and the information it contains is well organized. Because it is not a childrens book, Johann will continue to enjoy this book for years to come. Even now we can see how he absorbs more from it today than he did a year ago when he first recieved it. If you have a young future biologist/zoologist/conservationist in your family I can't possibly recommend this book enough. 5 Stars? Try 10!
Book Review: Informative and AWSOME!! Summary: 5 StarsWe bought this book for our son who wanted a "Great Big Book of Everything" and we definately found it with this book! We have the hardcover version, which was a steal on sale, and it has been used by our kids and nephews often. We just purchased the softcover version for one of our nephews and he was truly excited! This is such a wonderfully informative book that has something for everyone! A must for anyone with an interest in animals!!
