Book Review: Fascinating account of the Apollo missions

This book concentrates on the personalities and methods of NASA as it strove to accomplish President Kennedy's arbitrary objective of putting a man on the moon before the end of the 1960s. The book describes the origins of NASA, key personnel, the technical difficulties and how they were overcome and gives details of the more interesting missions such as Apollos 11 and 13. Having read this book my admiration for NASA's achievements in the face of almost insuperable problems increased immensely. Although the narrative is a bit dry and dull in places, the book held my attention for most of the 400+ pages and a careful reader can learn some interesting lessons on project management and quality control which are still relevant today.
