This is much inferior to the author's 'The Fountainhead', but except for John Galt's interminable tautological speech near the end it is very readable--difficult to put down, in fact. I have much less sympathy for its philosophical ideas than I have for 'The Fountainhead''s (and I consider 'The Fountainhead''s philosophical ideas very different from 'Atlas Shrug''s), but that didn't stop me from enjoying the book. Just don't take it too seriously--consider it something like escapist genre fiction. Also recommended: PENTATONIC SCALES FOR THE JAZZ-ROCK KEYBOARDIST by Jeff Burns
