The book Augustus Caesar's World provides rich information about the ancient world when Augustus Caesar was alive. Reading this book was a great learning experience. Augustus Caesar was the supreme rule of the Roman Empire from 44 B.C. to 14 A.D.
This superb book containes what's called parallel history. Parallel history is a format of teaching which tells what was happening all over the world at a given point in time. Often times, when a student is learning about a country in history, they will forget that other countries still have things going on. Parallel history prevents that. Although Augustus Caesar is the center of the story, I still learned of many other countries and their cultures and religions such as Egypt, China, Japan, Persia, India, Gaul, and Israel. Each culture was nicely illustrated yet always tied back to Rome and Augustus Caesar.
I adore Augustus Caesar's World and I think it's a treasure. I would recommend this book to anyone in fifth grade or higher. I think that the people who would get the most from Augustus Caesar's World would be students studying this time in history. At our school library, this book has never been checked out and it's time for Augustus Caesar's World to be rediscovered. Adults could also read this book and get the same amount of joy from it. I hope that everyone who reads this masterpiece will be as happy with it as I am.
