Like All Over But the Shoutin', Ava's Man is a continuation of Bragg's-a local boy made good-personal history of his Alabama roots. This time, instead of telling his mom's dirt-poor yet heroic tale, he follows the larger-than-life tale of his maternal grandfather, Charlie Bundrum, a man he never met. Touching stuff that many Alabamians will relate to. My father is utterly taken with Bragg's memoirs.
