Book Review: Ego:Abject Oddity or Unmitigated Self-Expression!
Summary: 5 Stars

The teeming mob and the single individual.Howard Roark, the hero-oh what a radical if ever Ayn Rand conjured up one!But is he a hero?Isn't he a rapist, a self-centered monster?Just when you thought he would relent that one bit, just like Keating and Toohey in the book, he says no, and no and no again!Readers stand baffled as they fall down from the height of creativity to the depth of menial labor with Roark.Gail Wynand represents the film or mafia hero, the one who conquers all after being repressed for long, only to bow to the sheer strength of belief of Rand's ideal Roark who is far ahead of his times. You will be left mentally dishevelled, but there's still Dominique to come-unpredictable, uncomprehensible and brutally honest.Ayn Rand writes in vitriolic undertones, the cutting edge is that her protagonists are not those who shout from rooftops but those who utter a single word that sets fire to ice. It's crude at times but always brilliant.People might brand the 'Fountainhead' as capitalist, but it is essentially humanist, the intensity of love against the backdrop of the pillar of creative self-expression. Nothing more, nothing less.

Book Review: I have a dream...
Summary: 5 Stars

I have read this book and I am reading to my children, I can only hope that one day... one day my children will be judge by they're minds and nothing more.. This book is a dream of what man should be and can be, when the chains of equalness are broken and we are free to be the best that we can be!

Book Review: Just My Opinion
Summary: 5 Stars

I am senior in high school and decided to read THE FOUNTAINHEAD for a scholarship. It took quite a bit of effort to find a copy of this book in the rural area where I live. Even my english teacher who suggested I read it had never read it. When I finally located a copy, I had no idea what to expect. I just started. After a few pages I thought it was all about architecture. Further reading, though, led me to realize that it was really about human nature. I found this book interesting not because of the twisted, mixed-up plot, but because of the way in which the characters dealt with circumstances. I think this book should be read by all high school students to help them realize how they and others think, even if it's not the way Howard Roark or Peter Keating thought. Though there wasn't a character in the book with whom I really understood or could relate with, I found THE FOUNTAINHEAD to give great insight into many of the differences in people. I realize that I am just 17 years old and haven't experienced much, but I recommend this book to any and everyone!

Book Review: Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse....
Summary: 1 Stars

_The Fountainhead_ and _Atlas Shrugged_ are two of the worst novels of the 20th century to garner a large readership. Most of these readers are naive, impressionable people who feel dissatisfied with society and who have money and time for reading long novels. To this volatile combination Rand is a catalyst, and the result is "objectivism," a cult of Rand followers who know very little about epistemology or ethics or critical thinking, but who claim that Rand answered once and for all the major questions investigated by these studies. It is really pathetic to see my community college students who have been smitten with the Ayn Rand bug take my philosophy and political science classes only to find that she is not even paid attention to by professional philosophers or political scientists because her ideas, such as they can be made sense of, are so outlandish.

My advice is to not waste your time on either of these novels. If you want philosophy, read Aristotle or Nietzsche. If you want philosophical fiction, read _Sophie's World_ by Jostein Gaarder. If you want an introduction to economics, try Heilbroner's _The Worldly Philosophers_. If you want political theory, check out the soft-cover version of Blackwell's _Companion to Contemporary Political Philosophy_.

One of the most important benefits of an education in the liberal arts is the ability to distinguish good writers from bad ones. Rand is definitely among the latter. You can either learn for yourself the hard way, or you can take some friendly advice from a teacher and look elsewhere for your ideological inspiration.

Book Review: Life Altering!!
Summary: 5 Stars

The only more significantly life-altering book than The Fountainhead is Atlas Shrugged. Her ideas in The Fountainhead and her characters are the embodiment of achievment and pride. The book was given to me as a lesson in my youth to always strive for the best in me and not to let anyone harm my concept of what my mind says is right. The characters are bold, strong, and keep you wondering about their lives even after you put the book down.
I still read this book every year to remind myself that there are things in life that cannot be taken away or hurt, no matter what. The Fountainhead requires actual reading: you cannot skip through any of it, but it will be some of the best reading you ever do!
