Book Reviews of Ayn Rand 2-copy setBook Review: Unreadable, narcissistic, claptrap. Summary: 1 Stars
I only attempted to read "The Fountainhead" because it was by Margaret Thatcher's favourite author. She apparently kept a copy by her bedside for 'inspiration', hmmm, and what an inspiration. I wont bother with the books literary merits, except to say it was dull, confusing and repetitive. I had no sympathy for, or interest in, any of the characters. After three hellish weeks I could not bring myself to finish it. In the persute of knowledge, you can only immerse yourself in so much sewerage befor your breathing is effected. On the other hand, "The Fountainhead" did give me a great insight into the new right, Thatcherism and that cold, joyless mindset of 'enlightened self interest'. For a bit of fun I would reccomend you get a copy of the "Mental Health Net's, Symptoms of a Narcissistic Personality Disorder" Then check off each symptom on any given page of "The Fountainhead".
Book Review: Very deep, Intellectual Summary: 5 Stars
These books are out of this world! I love it. I consider Atlas Shrugged as the bible of my life. . The philosophical approach of the author is unbelievable. John Galt represents "reality" in the real world. Intellectuals and their ideals do exist. These books are about soul searching and then finally, keeping peace with your soul. I recommend these books to everybody. And do not forget We The Living, too!!!!!
Book Review: excellent. Atlas shrugged change my live Summary: 5 Stars
-It's a pity that this book has not been translated to spanish. There are a lot of people that are missing something because they cannot read english.
Book Review: great characters and longwinded narration: a mixed bag Summary: 4 Stars
Ayn Rand certainly writes some incredibley vivid, gigantic characters. Howard Roarke and Henry Reardon are 2 of her best creations. But lordy be, does this woman prattle on in places. The Fountainhead is more concise and will not bore you as much of some sections of Atlas Shrugged will. Warning: John Galt's 70 page speech in Atlas should be flipped thru as fast as humanly possible... Other than this, both books are a good challenge to anyone who likes to think for themselves, although her pro-industry stance is a little foolish to say the least...
Book Review: revolutionary Summary: 5 Stars
The Fountainhead and Atlas shrugged are those kinds of books which changes your way of thinking.Possibly because these prompts you to think and question. It is a unique experience going through these books, almost a journey in which you challenge everything that you might have considered it to be true just because someone else told you so. An eyeopener.
