THIS NOVEL HAS SUBJECTED THE MOST REALISTIC POINT OF VIEWS THEN ANY OTHER BOOK I'VE READ IN A WHILE.THIS NOVEL IS A PAGE TURNER AND KEEPS YOU WANTING MORE IN THE END.I FELT AS IF I WERE IN THE BOOK AND THE SITUATIONS THAT WERE OCCURRING WERE REALLY HAPPENING.B-MORE CAREFUL SHOWED THE LIFE OF CRIME,SEX,VIOLENCE,AND DRUGS IN AN IMPOWERING AND REALISTIC WAY.SHANNON HOLMES GAVE AN EXCELLENT VIEW OF A LIFE OF MANY OBSTACLES AND CONFLICT.THE CHARACTERS IN THIS NOVEL WERE SO REAL AND STRAIGHT UP WITH THE DRAMAS OF LIFE AND HUSTLING.THEY SHOWED A GREAT DEAL OF STUGGLE IN SURIVIVING THE BAD THINGS AFTER ANOTHER BAD THING.THE AUTHOR SIMPLY GAVE READERS A REASON TO READ THIS BOOK IN THE WAY THE LANGUAGE SUITS YOUNG READERS FROM AGES 15 AND UP.THIS NOVEL KEPT ME WONDERING ABOUT LIFE AND WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO DO TO SURVIVE IN GOOD AND BAD DAYS AND TIMES.

Shannon Holmes brought back many wonderful but sad memories. The book helped me to remember that I am so truly blessed. Though I was not a hustler, just being around them I could have been put in danger, but I was not. During my teen years in the 1980s I saw a lot of Holmes' characters in my surroundings. The book is so real that one might almost be brought to tears when reading a certain chapter. I also could relate to the streets, landmarks, and the shopping malls mentioned in her book. Any Washingtonian will feel like he or she is up close and personal with the characters because the book is JUST0 that real! No faking with her skills, this is one excellent book. I guarantee Ms. Holmes is one off the hook writer and on her way to stardom! Thank you Teri Woods Fable for guiding and introducing Ms. Holmes because the both of you will forever be among my collection of books just as long as you are writing. First of all Shannon Holmes is a man..a Mr, not a Ms....and this book was off da chain for real!!! This book was all the way live. It was gritty, it was urban, it was real. Black was no joke. Just reading about Black made me scared of him and all I could think to myself while I was reading was I hope I never meet a man like that cause he was crazy. I was blowed in the end by what happened between Netta and Mimi. I just knew it was not going to go down like that but it did. This book was very well written. You did your thing Mr. Holmes. Congrats!! If you have not read this book, run, don't walk and go and get it because this book is dead serious and major real, yo! I couldn't resist throwing that in. After reading this book, it took me awhile to stop saying 'yo' and I live in FL. Too funny!
