Book Reviews of BRAVEHEART

Book Review: "Excellent!"
Summary: 5 Stars

A book and a film that, no matter how many times I read or see it, I love and enjoy as much as I did the first time. A brilliant book, full of love, hatred and bloodshed. William Wallace was a brilliant man! I am a Braveheart addict! FREEEEEEDOM!

Book Review: A Genuine Tear-Jerker
Summary: 5 Stars

After watching the movie, which has since become my favorite, I rushed out to read the book. I was not disappointed. Given, it isn't historically accurate, but with the extra kicks the author puts in both the novel and the movie, it helps enhance the story. Although books are usually better in the movie, I must beg to differ on this one. The book was excellent, but you just can't beat the film's special effects and Mel Gibson in a kilt.

Book Review: A mans devotion to the women he loves
Summary: 4 Stars

The story of Braveheart takes place in 1297 in the highlands of Scotland. The Story of Braveheart is based on a true story about a man named Sir William Wallace who fights for the rights of Scottish men and women. In the book Wallace's dad is killed when the english set a trap to kill Scottish Nobels. When Wallace's dad is killed he is forced to go live with his uncle. While with his unclehe is taught to read and write in various langages. When he comes back to Scotland many years later he finds out the English Lords have put in effect the right of premenoctor or the right of the lords to take the bride into their bedthe first night of her union. He falls in love with a young Scotish women and decides to get married to her in secret because he does not want to share her with an English Lord. When the English find out that she is pregnant they execute her. When Wallace hears of his wifes demise he raises an army to fight the English of thier land. The reason I choose to read Braveheart is because Wallace is an idle of mine. This is the first book I have read that is based on a true story. In the book their is a love story and a lot of action and adventure. This is a must read book for anyone who likes Scotland because it gives very good description of how things were during the time of William Wallace.Anyone who saw the movie must read the book.

Book Review: Amazing book
Summary: 5 Stars

The movie was great. The book was better. I felt a deeper connected to the characters, and enjoyed the elaboration of many scenes from the book. There aren't many books that top an amazing movie, but this is one of two.

Book Review: An Excellent Case Study in Leadership
Summary: 4 Stars

I realize that the book is full of historical inaccuracies. However, if you can tolerate the author's liberties, the reader will enjoy one of the best books ever written. The book is enjoyable, but there are also valuable lessons within the pages. Being a military historian, I had an appreciation for Wallace's ability to rally a segmented people to an almost impossible goal. He gave the people a cause and a vision. Today's leaders in the US would do well to give the people a common goal and a vision that we could rally behind.
