Book Review: Interesting Subject Matter....Definitely Modern!

I will keep this one fairly simple.
I really liked this book because of its more modern subject. It is definitely apparent that many women in the United States are keeping their jobs longer and having children at a later age. It is even more apparent that men are becoming more comfortable with wanting children they claim they will take care of. However, as most women realize, this will never be the case. If you are a woman, your job as parent will ALWAYS be more demanding than that of a father. It is just nature - moms always have to keep the bond as well as the physical closeness between themselves and their kids.
So, Claudia Parr decides she will have none of this. She is happsy and content as a successful editor at a publishing company. She has great friends and a husband who also claims he does not want kids. However, this changes. So, faced with no choice, Claudia and her husband divorce because they both want different things. Case closed.
Or, is it? Claudia is a great character because she is so modern. She wants to exist in a world where she does not have to have the burden of a child. Many people in the US never really understand why some women do not want kids. It is time people realize that some women are not meant to be moms.
The best part of the book is when Claudia and her husband find peace with letting the baby issue drop.
I like this because it should never be about what one person wants...marriage is a compromise.
