Book Reviews of Bad Monkeys: A Novel (P.S.)Book Review: Awesome read Summary: 5 StarsI've been a big fan of Matt Ruff since I discovered "Fool On a Hill" in college. I've loved all of his books and "Bad Monkeys" is no exception. Just a great, thrilling story.
Book Review: Lightening Fast Read Summary: 4 StarsI too read this book in less than a day...It zooms from scene to scene, sweeping the reader along against their will and without restraits.
I found the story and characters just as intriguing and unique as the book cover. A fun, quick jaunt to crazy land!
Book Review: Bad Monkeys Summary: 3 Stars"Bad Monkeys" has still left a bad taste in my mouth. I force read the last 20 pages and yeck. This novel by Matt Ruff kind of reminded me of Craig Clevenger's "Contortionist's Handbook" and by the end I was left wanting to drown myself in Chuck Palahniuk's backwash. William Gibson on the backcover says something to the extent that he was scared and wanting more. I just wanted a break after reading this descent into madness. Very imaginative and perhaps telling how individuals have internalized the world into their there they're own understanding of how best to operate in a world gone wrong.
Book Review: Great quick read! Summary: 4 StarsI picked this up on a whim also, the shape, color and title were just irresistible. I was sucked in immediately and had to fight the urge to stay up until the wee hours of the morn to finish it off. Enough twists and turns that you will not have any idea where it will go next, and enough wit and humor to keep you interested in the main character and what her crazy life is like.
I definitely recommend this book.
Book Review: It Wouldn't Let Go! Summary: 5 StarsI picked this book up on a whim - it had an intruiging cover, a few good reviews on the jacket, sounded like ithad an interesting premise - and who can resist the title!?!
Well, let me just say...I was hooked well beyond anything I anticipated. Not only could I not put it down...this is a book that is capable of keeping you firmly in its grasp. The main character is engaging, it has a healthy dose of humor, and the plot twists never let up!
Without saying anything about the actual plot - that has been well detailed by several other great reviews here - I am delighted to report that I got well more than I expected from this book. It is also one of the few books (with so many good reads out there) that I plan to re-read - as soon as I get it back from my best friend!
Absolutely Fantastic!
