Book Reviews of Band of Brothers

Book Review: One of the greatest books ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am only 14 years old and am really in to the book- Band of Brothers it is one of the best books i have ever read in my life. I love things to do with war and this book really shows what it was really like to be a soldier in the second world war. there must have been so much research gone into it and i think it was well worth it.

Book Review: The most fascinating book ever, by a truly masterful author
Summary: 5 Stars

Stephen E. Ambrose writes with a passion that I never before knew existed. Not only does he describe the physical actions of the men of Easy Company, but he captures their emotions in a way that brings the reader ever closer to these heroic soldiers. I found the book so gripping and so intense that it was hard to put down! This is definitely not just another war story of how the Americans "won the war", but a true account of the three life-changing years that these men spent in the U.S. Army. "Following" the soldiers through from Normandy to Austria, I was both in tears and fits of laughter. After such a moving experience in reading this masterpiece, I can guarantee that my perception of war will never be the same again. Major Richard Winters has become my hero, as have all of the brave soldiers who were willing to give their lives in honour of their country.

Book Review: Amazing
Summary: 5 Stars

The TV Serise inspired me to buy the book, but now I just can't stop reading it. The detail of description of the excitment, horror, and trama faced by E-company is amazing. This book is definatly one of the best ever written by Stephen Ambrose and is definatly worth reading.

Book Review: Superb
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't think you could do this book justice. Interesting from the first does not hide the true horrors of war and shows how war bonded men from different walks of life in a way that war only can.

This story was also inspiring and Easy Company truelly was made up of hero's who willingly gave there live to save ours. The characters are all perfectly given and I was left profoundly touched by this true story. People like Winters, Malarky etc are those that truelly won the war.

It was a privelage to see it in black and white and thanks to Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg there stories were made all the more real and harrowing. This book was a great read and also perfectly captured a time long since gone but this book made it easy to picture and was superb!

Book Review: Compulsive reading
Summary: 5 Stars

Completely gripping! I enjoyed reading about the events and thus learning some of the history of the Normandy landings, Holland and Berchtesgarden. What makes the book such compulsive reading, however, is the drawing of the characters and the insight the reader gains into the lives of the people involved. This, I believe, is due to the thorough research done by the writer and the relationship he has clearly established with the men of Easy Company. I cared about what was hapening to these men, none more so than at Bastogne, and I am constantly reminded that it is not a work of fiction. I now want to read more of Stephen Ambrose's books.
