Book Reviews of Batman: The Dark Knight ReturnsBook Review: A vision of the future? Summary: 5 StarsThis book is the most essential piece of Batman comic art.The story conveys a lot of the attitudes of people today. From the release of psychopaths by moronic doctors who swear their rehabilitated before the aforementioned psychos go on to perpetrate crimes to the lack of faith in the police force. This is amazing reading for the Batman or Miller fan and great reading even if you dont like comics that much.THIS is the reason comics have more credability today than 30 years ago
Book Review: THE REAL BAT-MAN Summary: 5 Starsfinally a batman who you belive would exist.Mr Miller brings to life a REAL man. Not a comical dandy sprouting silly 'holy bad script'lines. Here is Bruce Wayne with all the problems of someone who never came to terms with witnessing the murder of both his parents, and has all the psycological problems a real person would. He is a hunter a predator who will never stop hunting untill he has you.If you like your hero's to represent truth justice etc, tough 'cause this BATMAN kick's butt
Book Review: What can you say? Summary: 5 StarsFrank Miller returns with his graceful, japanese inspired line work to create something even more special than Ronin. DKR is a triumph of the graphic form with a detailed look in the psychosis that forms the Batman - as well as some interesting ideas on how the Batman creates his own enemies. So what can you say? Bloody brilliant. Read it.
Book Review: Who is the greatest superhero? Summary: 5 StarsFor a few years there have been the odd rumour of Clint Eastwood taking on the role of Batman for this return to the real Batman. As portrayed by Micheal Keaton (and how Bob Kane intended) Batman is, and always will be, a darker hero than most. In this graphic novel, you can see why an actor like Clint was suggested, but best of all it settles the argument once and for all about who the greatest superhero is (Although the great Knightfall and Knightsend graphic novels did this as well). If it does get made into a film, let us hope it is treated with the same care and attention to detail that the Lord of the Rings trilogy has. If it does, it will easily surpass the films of Batman and Batman Returns. I know I've gone on about the films a bit, but the point is this; everything about this graphic novel is great, the artwork, story and characters. It could be a great film, it is the best graphic novel there is.
Book Review: Landmark Summary: 5 StarsWhether you want to return to comics, or whether you want to begin reading comics, Batman- the dark knight returns is an appropriate ambassador for the comic world. It is absolutely landmark and it is the best comic ever written. Frank Millers story is as compelling as it is gripping, it is as action packed as it is story based and it really isnt afraid to make huge story based decisions on the Batman franchise. The art is also classic blocky Frank Miller style and is so very appropriate for the story. I believe this comic is suited to a mature audience though, the action is quite violent and gritty and the noir based story could lose a younger reader. It is long aswell, meaning you get your moneys worth and i think it will definately get you into comics. Batman is a great character.
