Book Reviews of Battle Angel Alita: Last Order, Vol. 2: Angel Of The Innocents (Battle Angel Alita (Graphic Novels))Book Review: Angel of Innocents Summary: 5 StarsAfter waiting a good long time Kishiro to get back writing Alita I was not disappointed. The book pics up from Angel Reborn, very much a continuation of the same story rather than a sequel. The fight scenes are dramatic, as always with kishiro, but you spend a lot of time waiting for Alita to really start fighting. For much of the book she seems held back, not living up to what we expect of her, but eventually she's back with avengence. The AR series also offer a somewhat bizarre mirror of who alita could be, with alita as a template, the AR units that we see have evolved a lot since Alita's last encounter with them, and we get to see much more of them in this book. If nothing else, the books worth buying just for Alita's childhood memories, she's SO CUTE! So buy this book, it's excellent and well worth it.
Book Review: Alita's not making me battle weary Summary: 5 StarsContinuing the 'Battle Angel Alita: Last Orders' which saw Yukito Kishiro picking up our favorite cybernetic warrior from the old series. Kishiro's illness during the creation of the last book of the previous series has seen this as a sort of unfinished business, whereby the Last Orders cuts the previous books off halfway through the 9th volume and amputates the original ending.Whilst trying to restore the life of a friend Alita is overtaken by events from beyond the earth and we meet a motely crew of humanity from the span of the solar system. As Alita's world expands before our eyes we see the visceral side of life and death played out by Kishiro's wonderfully complex characters. Published in Japanese format, reading from the left to the right, is for the purists but doesn't make for to much difficulty.
Book Review: Clarification Summary: 5 StarsThis is Book 6: "Battle Angel Alita Last Order - The Angel & The Vampire"Picking up from Book 5, Alita has overcome her personal demons, and has entered the Z.O.T.T ring to fight Qu Tsang. Unbeknownst to Alita, she must face her oldest and fiercest enemy, and begin to discover her forgotten past. This does not contain any scenes with Alita's childhood self, see earlier Last Order volumes for those!
