If you're a fan of action you'll love this. The fights on pages 60-86, 160-173 are not only the most dynamic of the series they also go way beyond pulse-pounding butt kicking. Those pages gave me the strongest emotional reaction I've ever found inside a comic, as not only was it tense and exciting, it was also achingly sad. Fans of pathos and poignancy will weep over Alita's resolution with Ido, Fury's protection of Koyomi and the surprising actions of Mr Buick. Artistically, it's in this grahic novel that Kishiro's art reaches its peak - drawings are so precisely laid on paper it's like he brushed the page once with just the very tip of the pen. And to see the almost 3-D effects Yukito Kishiro can achieve in a two dimensional medium using just pen and ink is simply amazing.

I can't praise Fallen Angel highly enough. Violent, sorrowful, gruesome, tender, philospohical, literary - it's all this and utterly, utterly brilliant.
