Book Review: Battle Royale: A review
Summary: 4 Stars

Violence and thrills abound in this exciting novel by Koushun Takami. Battle Royale is a page turning classic of violence and teenage rebellion. Takami interweaves themes of bloodshed and the strength of human trust into a brilliant narrative of 40 middle school students who are coerced into killing each other. Deeply critical of authority, the characters question the dictatorial control of the futuristic `successful fascism' of Japan, and the sanity of the adults who run the system. The heroes of this book search for the value of trust as they try to avoid their murderous classmates. Takami creates a vivid yet disturbing plot, while, raising new questions with each character's death.
While Takami's creativity clearly shines through in the variety and individuality of the characters, and the intense premise, the novel is not without flaw. The motivation of some characters seems implausible, even with the considerable latitude of the extreme conditions. Also, the translation is far too visible in this version.
All things considered, this novel is a fast-paced thrill ride, and worthy of a read based on notoriety alone. However, it also examines jarring themes of violence, the dissolution of order and teenage rebellion. Readers of Takami's master-work will not be disappointed.

Book Review: Best Novel Ever Written
Summary: 5 Stars

Simply amazing, EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS!!!!!!! Even if you don't like books from this genre you have to read this. I think this book should be a required read for any American citizen. It has really given me a great idea of who to trust in life and why our world is so corrupt. This has left a HUGE impact on my life and I will read this book once every single year. Has outstanding character, plot, and setting. But whatever you do, DON'T READ THE MANGA VERSION FIRST!!!!! I believe that it completely destroys what the story is about and leads people to believe the wrong things this book is trying to teach. If you do read the book and enjoy it, give the movie a try before touching the manga, the movie has left out a lot of details, and has some flaws, but is still a good watch and brings the characters to life even more. The movie is a Japanese made and directed film and you may have to do some searching to find it. I suggest going onto www.watchmovies.net because you can just type in the name BATTLE ROYALE in the search box and you can watch the whole thing on there. If you have a Netflix account they have it on their DVD list and I would definently check it out. I sincerely hope you enjoy this and hope it leaves as much of an impact on you as it has left on me.

Book Review: Best book ever!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is by far the best book I have ever read. I saw the movie first (and many times over) but it didn't spoil it at all. Couldn't put it down, 624 pages and read it in 5 days. I used to love to read, but school ruined me for reading with all the book reports on books that I had no interest in. It made me loathe even the thought of reading. This is the first book that I've finished since high school, I'm 27 now. That should say something about this book. It is quite violent and somewhat sadistic. It has a very good story to it, and was very well written (and translated). Don't let the reveiws on the cover shy you away, as one is by Stephen King, they may mislead some as to the basis of the book. To me Stephen King novels are more of the criminally insane, or demonic possession type. This is more of the government throws you into an extreme situation with a bunch of others for amusement/analysis, similar to gladiator arenas.

Book Review: Blood stained novel will take you on one pessimistic ride.
Summary: 5 Stars

Battle Royale is the novel that the world wide hit film (except the United States) is based on. The story follows a middle school class as they are hijacked by the government and forced to play a deadly game on a deserted island. The class is pared into two groups (boys and girls). To add some fun, each student is given a random weapon (anything from a high powered rifle with a laser scope to a paper fan). Another bonus, a couple of new transfers are thrown into the mix.

What I enjoyed the most about this novel was the background story of the students. The writer finds the time to flesh out their characters and make them intersting. You'll feel for the students knowing that death awaits each and every single one of them. Who will survive and what will become of them?

Highly recommended.

Book Review: Bloody awesome (no pun intended)
Summary: 5 Stars

First thing I have to say is that I hate gore and I usually hate most horror. But Battle Royale is more than just gore and well, horror. Though I'm not going to deny that there isn't a lot of gore - there is. Sickening amounts of it. But there's just something else about it.
The characters are realistic. Some try to team up with their classmates, some go crazy from fear, and some kill each other. The suspence kills you too. (no pun intended...well, kind of) But, just like the characters say, you can't trust nothing (no one). This book isn't the average children break the system story. It definitly isn't what you expect.
But either way, it is impossible to put down one you open it.
