Book Reviews of Battlefield of the Mind: Winning the Battle in Your MindBook Review: Thank You, Joyce Meyer for being obedient to God, on this! Summary: 5 StarsShe writes from what God has brought her through. This is more than just ideas which sound good but are hard to implement. They work. As God has given her victory, she has reached out to others in obedience to her Lord. This book helps in so many areas -- showing causes for our defeats, and solutions for victory. I'm buying another copy to loan out. It's only been a month, and things are a-changin'!
Book Review: Essential reading!!! Summary: 5 StarsWhen you buy this book you are tempted to scan the contents page and then jump to the section that's "relevant to you". However, this is a book that you need to read from start to finish without skimping. Essential reading for those who have real battles in wrong thinking, negativity, fear, doubt, envy, hatred, unforgiveness, you name it - Joyce Meyer shows you how to deal with these emotions in a practical and godly way.
Book Review: Battlefiled of the Mind by Joyce Meyer Summary: 5 StarsJoyce puts into simple, humourous language the answers to the struggles experienced by many Christians as we attempt to 'renew our minds' with the Word of God. She speaks in a simple and straightforward manner, identifying with those of us who have problems and sharing with us her own experience. This book encourages and teaches us how to overcome the mindsets which have held many of us back for far too long. If you really want to live an abundant life and enjoy all that God has for you here on planet earth, do yourself a favour, and buy it!
Book Review: Disappointing Summary: 2 StarsI bought this book with great expectations on the basis of earlier reviews but was frankly disappointed. The treatment of the subject is at times shallow, confusing and misleading. Particularly unhelpful is the section on 'reasoning' where the author asks us to stop reasoning because "reasoning and confusion go together". Rather than encourage us to apply our God-given minds to problems, she advocates disengagement of the mind. "I don't want to reason, to figure and to be logical, rotating my mind around and around an issue until I am worn out and confused. I want to experience the peace of mind and heart that comes from trusting in God, not in my own human insight and understanding." To reason or to trust appear to be the choices. There seems to be no place for both.
Book Review: perfect book for the perfect situation Summary: 4 StarsAnother great Joyce Meyer book!
I was just encouraging someone who was indeed in the 'battlefield of the mind' and it was as if the book for written for her! Joyce captured everything that this person in depression went through. It was so accurate that it was as if Joyce knew the person herself.
It was a very helpful book and the topics very relevant; It is true that most of our battles begin first in our minds and we need to bring it under subjection to Jesus Christ.
