Book Reviews of Bear Stays Up for ChristmasBook Review: wonderful illustrations, heart warming story of friendship at Christmas Summary: 5 StarsThe star of this book is certainly the illustrations. The text rhymes nicely and tells a tale of Bear, who usually is unable to stay up until Christmas. His other animal friends decide this year will be different, and busy him with a variety of pre-holiday preparations. When they tire on Christmas Eve, Bear is still swept up in the spirit o things and stays up (so preoccupied with preparing gifts his misses Santa's discreet visit). The book ends with the animal friends having a wonderful celebration and Bear using his new gift to assure a peaceful rest.
Illustrations bring this tale to life. Highly recommended for the message of love and giving to others and the warmth of the holidays.
Book Review: Simple, fun, and gorgeously illustrated. Summary: 4 StarsA very simple story of a bear who gives up his winter hibernation to make Christmas special for his friends. The rhymes are simple, if not especially memorable. The artwork is beautiful, though.
"Bear Stays Up" will remain in the bedtime reading rotation for the holiday season.
My four-year-old tuned out after a while, but my two-year-old enjoyed this.
Book Review: very cute Christmas story Summary: 4 StarsThis is a very cute Christmas story. In a nutshell, Bear typically hibernates through Christmas and this year has his friends wake him up so he can celebrate with them. It's a good book for preschoolers with only a sentence or two per page, a lot of rhymes, and pictures with great details. If you're wondering, I wouldn't call it secular or religious. It mentions the carol "O Holy Night" (by name only) and has a brief visit from Santa. The focus is on the friendships. I have a two-year-old and a five-year-old, they both enjoy this book, but the little one has asked for it more times.
There is one line in the verse that is grammatically incorrect to force a rhyme. This is minor of course (the kids won't even notice), but since preschool books tend to be read over and over, it might grate on some moms or dads.
Book Review: Perfect Christmas Bedtime story! Summary: 5 StarsOK, I have to admit, in the beginning I THOUGHT I was going to be annoyed because I THOUGHT it was going to sound too close to "the night before christmas" as most Christmas rhyme books can.
Luckily, it wasn't the same. Even though the first paragraph did have me a little worried. This is a wonderfully illustrated book, and the recommended ages of 2 to 6 I think is SPOT ON.
The illustrations are well done, and pleasing to the eye, and children can pick out characters by matching up WHO they are to the picture of WHAT they are.
I give it two thumbs up, this one needs to be under EVERY tree this year.
And I don't want to be a spoiler, but you will be rooting for bear to keep awake to see Christmas!
Book Review: Delightful Christmas Story Summary: 5 StarsBear Stays Up For Christmas was a very cute story about Bear, who decides he wants to take a break from hibernation and join his friends Christmas fun! Watch as Bear celebrates his first Christmas with his animal friends, experiencing all the traditional christmas activities, like trimming the tree, making popcorn strings, and singing carols. You never know, maybe he'll even catch a glimpse of Santa.
This is a cute quick story that your toddlers should love and will want you to read again and again around the holiday season! The words are fun and easy for the young to understand and have some repetitive portions for the child to say along with you. The illustrations are charming and added to my enjoyment of this picture book. I recommend this book for those looking for Christmas themed books or stocking stuffers!
