Book Review: A Dog Is A Girl's Best Friend! Summary: 4 Stars
Because of Winn-Dixie, is a heartwarming book that everyone should read. I would recommend this story because it is short and to the point. Even though it is a short story, it has great detail and it is very descriptive. It is not a book based on someone's real life, but it certainly could be because it is practically just a normal person's everyday life. Because of Winn-Dixie is also a book that you just cannot put down. It is a very quick read and that shows that you really like the book and you want to what is going to happen next. Once you start reading it, you cannot stop. In conclusion, this is a great book that I would recommend to everyone who is looking for a book to read
Book Review: A Dog Lover's Treat Summary: 4 Stars
Because of Winn- Dixie by Kate Di Camillo is an interesting creation of a ten-year old girl named India Opal Buloni. Who moves to a new town of Naomi, Florida and experiences all the great apsects in life just by meeting an ugly dog named Winn- Dixie. The characters in the story are believable. They are realistic in a way that any child could pick up this book and understand what India has been through. The vocabulary in the book is not difficult for one to read. In one part of the story, there is a surprise observation that flows naturally, for example India and her friends have a party, Winn- Dixie was there but nature called and a thunderstorm occurred. Winn- Dixie is afraid of thunderstroms and runs away. The suspense of India and her father, a preacher, trying to find Winn- Dixie was filled with great amazement. The style of this book is definately appropriate to the reader and the dialogue that is used provides the reader into an enjoyable insight of the characters. This book is one of my favorite children's books. It has a delicious taste that is enjoyable to the reader. I think children of any age would love to read this book. It's about friendship, strength and loyalty to another. If you are a dog lover you should definately read this book because it just goes to show how dog's are like humans and that they do change people's lives no mattter how young or old you are.
Book Review: A Dog That Has Never Forgoten. Summary: 5 Stars
Do you want to read a realistic fiction? If you do, you might want to read this excellent book called Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo. It is about a girl named India Opal Buloni who has red hair and freckles. She is a warm hearted and generous girl. The story took place at the Winn-Dixie grocery store in Naomi, Florida. It all started when India found a stray dog in the grocery store and named it after the store, Winn-Dixie. India wanted to keep Winn-Dixie so she went home to ask the preacher, her dad, if she could keep it. The preacher thought about it for a long time and finally decided yes. India took good care of Winn-Dixie and almost washed it every day. One morning, India took Winn-Dixie to the Herman W. Block Memorial Library and let it look through the window while she was choosing the books. Suddenly, Miss Franny, the librarian, screamed and said there was a bear at the window. Actually the bear was Winn-Dixie and Miss Franny liked it a lot. That was how India made her first friend in Naomi, Florida. India wanted to buy a collar for Winn-Dixie so she went to a pet shop to buy one. She found out that the collar was too expensive so she said she would work for Otis, the shop assistance, for one week and get the collar. While India was going home, Winn-Dixie jumped over the fence where people said there was a witch living there. India rapidly went through the gate to get Winn-Dixie. When she got there, she saw an old lady feeding peanut butter to Winn-Dixie and she apologized to the old lady but the old lady said it was ok and made her a peanut butter sandwich. The old ladys name was Gloria Dump. That was how India made another friend. One day, there was a party given and everybody was invited (Otis, the preacher, Miss Franny, Stevie, Dunlap, Amanda Wilkinson and Sweetie Pie Thomas). Miss Franny brought Littmus Lozenges and Otis brought pickles. All of sudden, rain began to pour down and Winn-Dixie was gone! Would they find Winn-Dixie or not? Read the book to find out! I recommend this book because the author keeps you guessing what will happen next. The ending of this book is very surprising and it is a great written novel.
