Book Reviews of Because of Winn-DixieBook Review: A Fantastic Story Summary: 5 Stars
My story was Because of Winn-Dixey. Its auther is Kate DiCamillo. Because of Winn-Dixie is a wonderful book. It is one of those stories you just can not stop reading.
It all starts with a girl named Indiana Opal who just moved to Naomi, Florida. She was at a grocery store one day when she met a dog there who was messing up the whole grocery store. She did not want them to take him to the pound so Opal claimed him to be hers. She named it Winn-Dixie because that was the name of the store. Opal lived with her dad who was a preacher. She asked her dad if she could keep the dog and he said yes! This was the first friend she'd made in Naomi. Winn-Dixie helped her make lots of friends. Some of her friends were the librarian, a six year old named Sweetie Pie, and a witch.
One day there was a lighting storm and Winn-Dixie got so scared he was jumping everywhere. Opal and her dad now knew he was afraid of thunder and lighting. One day her friends all decided to have a party. They decided they would invite everyone they knew. Opal invited all her friends, the Dewberry brothers, the librarian, the witch, Sweetie Pie, and her dad. The party was going prety well until there was a big storm. It turned into a lightning storm. They went inside not thinking of Winn-Dixie. When Opal did call for Winn-Dixie he would not come. She was all scared. She cried, "It's all my fault. I wasn't thinking of Winn-Dixie."
Opal and her dad went looking for Winn-Dixie for an hour but could not find him. When they finally went back and gave up they saw everone singing and having fun. Opal burst in and said, "why are you guys having fun when Winn-Dixie is gone?" The Dewberry brothers said, "we found him hiding under a chair!"
I really liked the book and recommend it to young and old readers.

It was India Opal Buloni first summer in her new town of Naomi, Florida. She had just moved there with her father who was a preacher. She was all alone until one day she had to run an erran for her father and she meet a dog who she named Winn-Dixie. This was her first friend in her new town of Naomi. This was a unique dog. He did everything with Opal, Winn-Dixie would even go to church with her. This dog became her companion and where one was you find the other. After meeting Winn-Dixie, she began to meet others in the town. The library was one of her favorite places and she became good friends with the librarian, others she meet included an ex-criminal and an old lady that other children thought was a witch. Because of Winn-Dixie is a wonderful book of for children. It would be easy for many children to identify with Opal. The book has short chapters and is a great read!!!...

Book Review: A Girls Best Friend Summary: 5 Stars
The book Because of Winn-Dixie is a heart warming story. It has won many awards. Some are Newberry Honor, New York times best seller, and IRA young adults award. The author is Kate DiCamillo. She writes books for kids and adults. A couple of books that she has written are Tiger Rising, and Despereaux. She has written many other books too. My opinion of this book would be two thumbs up. It is also a movie now.
Opal is an outgoing girl that likes to make friends. Her best friend is a dog that she saw at the super market Winn-Dixie. Opal brought the dog home and showed her father the dog, and he let her keep it. Opal names the dog Winn-Dixie. After the super market were she first saw him. Opal feels like Winn-Dixie can understand her. Having Winn-Dixie teaches Opal how to care for an animal. But during a thunder storm Winn-Dixie runs away! Will Winn-Dixie ever come back?
Because of Winn-Dixie is a book that both girls and boys would enjoy and it shows the true importance of having a friend. I enjoyed how the author made the characters so caring. During a thunder storm Winn-Dixie got scared. So Opal and her dad held on to Winn-Dixie to make him feel safe. Opal and her father hold on to Winn-Dixie every time there's a thunder storm. It's sort of like because Opal keeps Winn-Dixie safe, Winn-Dixie helps Opal in many ways. That's how I think the characters were caring.
The author is descriptive in the book Because of Winn-Dixie . I could picture every setting as I read. At the trailer park it's a blend of colors and different sized trailers. When Opal went to the library and it was small and white. It is really easy to picture the setting.
Because of Winn-Dixie is a heart warming story. It teaches that not all best friends have to be humans. In this case a dog is a girls best friend. You will never know what will happen next. I would recommend this book for every one. Even as a read aloud book. All in all Because of Winn-Dixie is my favorite book.
