Book Review: A Too Southern 3 Stars
I read this book and it took me about a month to read it.At first,it was good and then they added more people.Also it has some of the Civil War in it and it makes people think the Confederate army is the good team.I don't recommend this book.Book Review: A WONDERFUL STORY . ..

I was made aware of this book because it is on the William Allen White list for my 3rd grade son. He really wanted to read it but it was a bit higher than his reading level so the teacher suggested us reading it together . . . it was a very inspiring story that we will always remember. Winn Dixie proved to be a very best friend to little India Opal, who was becoming curious about the mother who left her. Through the story with Winn-Dixie, Opal meets many new friends and finds out how deep love can really be. . . An outstanding selection . . .
Book Review: A Witty Story of Finding the Most Unexpected Friends

I am an elementary teacher and I ordered this book, just to have an idea of what my students may be reading. I could not put it down. I read it three times and decided I had to share this book with my students. I immediately ordered enough copies for my entire class and we read it as a read aloud (I read and they followed along). I did different voices for the characters and my students loved this book. After we finished the book we had a BoWD party with Dump Punch, writing activities, and Jeopardy. My students loved this book so much they recommended it to the school over the announcements , some begged me to read it again, and many bought the book from our class book order. This is truly a wonderful book which children from all walks of life can relate to Opal. This book is part of my classroom community each year.

Because of Winn-Dixie is about a girl named India Opal Buloni. India Opal lives with her father,the preacher. They are moving from Watley,Florida to Naomi,Florida.One day Opal's father sends her to the Winn-Dixie grocery store. But when Opal goes inside,there is an old stray dog causing trouble! When Opal heard the manger was going to take the dog to the pound, Opal said it was her dog. So Opal kept the dog because she does not want him to go to the pound. Opal named the dog Winn-Dixe, after the store!
Because of Winn-Dixie Opal soon makes a lot of new friends and is very happy! I would recommend this book to anyone! But you will have to read this book to find out the ending!
