Book Review: A WONDERFUL book for either a beginner....

..or someone who wants to "relearn" what they've forgotten. In the mid 60's I purchased a Harmony House (classical) guitar and learned some basic stuff --including a ton of strums-- from a PBS program that ran/re-ran a couple of times a week. I was sure Pete Seeger or Joan Baez would come knocking on my door to play back-up for them when I mastered the instrument (grin) .. well, over the years I don't know what happened to that old guitar having laid it aside to raise 4 kids; in my advancing years I have decided to pick it up again.. that old program on PBS has long since been retired.. guitars ain't cheap anymore (my original ran under $100), but I forged ahead and bought a new Spanish guitar and a tuner and then went about trying to find a book through Amazon (there are a TON of 'em out there).. I spent about $50 on a variety of them and was a little disappointed because they were written for people that understood musical nomenclature (staff with notes on it) and assumed a degree of expertise even though they were described for "beginners".. This book was a lucky find among the various orders I placed. The CD included is really phenomenal, and a grand review of things I had forgotten.. there is a comment in this book review area about how only a limited number of chords are taught (this is true) but once you master these chords included in the book, there are a TON of free additional chord sheets available online, and all you need to do is print them out and add them to your repetoire!
I really can't recommend this book highly enough. thank you IPlayMusic, Inc for this wonderful little spiral-bound reference book.. it isn't the cheapest book available, but it is wonderfully complete for the basics..
