Book Reviews of Behold, an Ashen HorseBook Review: The Spirit of America Prevails Summary: 5 Stars
Realistic and frightening account of a mass attack on American soil. Action packed, typical quick thinking, and resourceful responses of the American people and their leaders. A nation literally torn apart, comes together with all its might and resources to restore order and restore America. A fased paced tale, that puts you right in the tick of it with technical accuracy, bureaucratic infighting, inept bungling, and still the spirit of American prevails.
Book Review: Time To Take The Gloves Off Summary: 5 Stars
"Behold, An Ashen Horse" is the second book in Lee Boyland's "Clash-of-Civilizations" trilogy. I did not read the first book, even after looking at the mostly good reviews it garnered; however, "Ashen Horse" presents plenty of information to let the reader know what occurred in the previous book and from reading it and the third entry, "America Reborn", I feel it really gets to the meat of the story. It is intense from page one and generally well written (a few typos here and there).
After a devastating nuclear attack by Islamic terrorists on five American cities by using bombs hidden in "plain sight", George Alexander, the only known surviving cabinet member of the liberal government is sworn in as President of the United States and makes quick, logical, and intelligent decisions to get the country back on it's feet and punish those responsible for the attacks. President Alexander does what has to be done and takes the gloves off.
Mr. Boyland knows his stuff based on reading the book and on his background information, yet he thankfully tones down the technical side for those of us without his experience in weapons of mass destruction. "Behold, an Ashen Horse" is a good military/action read from start to finish and "America Reborn" takes up where this book leaves off. I highly recommend both to military adventure readers. I hope Mr. Boyland continues the story of President Alexander and the rebuilding of America and a new world order.
Book Review: Where is President Alexander Summary: 5 Stars
Jim Little Author of BROTHERHOOD OF DOOM: Memoirs of a Navy Nuclear Weaponsman Lee Boyland has hit one out of the ballpark with Behold an Ashen Horse. After completing his first book: The Rings of Allah, I immediately ordered his follow-up book. As a nuclear weaponsman I recognized the reality of his story, and the very real possibility of the story becoming headlines some day in the near future! Five American city destroyed by nuclear devices secretly positioned, and awaiting a firing signal, initiated by Islamic Fanatics. After these devastating detonations, and the death of the president, and her cabinet, Secretary of Homeland Security Alexander assumes the mantle of leadership as president. He shows a brand of leadership that has been missing from America for too long. America is badly wounded, but President Alexander undertakes both diplomatic, and military actions with such positive results, it makes the reader want to cheer out loud! If only we had such leadership today. I'm recommending both The Rings of Allah, and Behold an Ashen Horse to my family, and friends as these books may both prove to be a crystal ball we should have peered into and realized what was going on right under our collective noses, and acted on before it was too late!
Book Review: Wonderfully patriotic sequel! Summary: 5 Stars
Author Lee Boyland left his readers hanging at the end of THE RINGS OF ALLAH. Five nuclear devices were placed in the United States, but would the US be able to react in time?
BEHOLD, AN ASHEN HORSE picks up the story right where RINGS left off. The US, mired in liberal politics, bureaucracy, and political correctness, doesn't react, and the resulting "Day of Islam" costs the lives of millions of Americans. The entire government is wiped out in the blink of an eye, except retired Air Force General George Alexander, who is serving as the Secretary of Homeland Security. Alexander becomes President, establishes a government, and sets forth to find and punish those responsible. The release of nuclear weapons is authorized, and President Alexander vows that this time there will be no "unfinished business."
This book has plenty of technological details, but the author does a great job of keeping things moving and not letting technology bog down the story; the descriptions are simple but accurate. Boyland also does a great job of developing his characters, and you can't help but fall in love with President Alexander as he pulls out all the stops and runs roughshod over the liberal bureaucrats who try to stop him from saving the United States and taking vengeance on those who attacked her.
If you ever felt that the US needs to step up and act like the superpower she is, THIS is the book for you!
