Book Review: Being Jordan Summary: 4 StarsI received this book on Saturday and once I started it could not put it down. Finished it on Sunday. It is a must read book for all those people out there who love the celeb gossip of certain magazines. I was fascinated from cover to cover. Especially reading about "squeaky clean" Gareth Gates and how awful Posh was to her. By the end of the book all my perceptions of Jordan had totally changed and I will never look at Gareth Gates in the same light again. Go Katie!
Book Review: Such a surprise. Summary: 5 StarsI was pleasantly surprised by just how readable this book is. I had actually bought it as a gift for someone, but ended up reading it myself. Initially, I'd had some preconceptions about the Lady herself, and how interesting I might find her story. This apprehension was allayed by the first two chapters, and then I couldn't put it down. I am not usually a reader of tabloid newspapers, but Jordan's appearance in 'I'm a Celebrity...' had brought out a bit of the voyeur in me, and I wanted to find out more. And the book does deliver. Her desire to be famous was not as easy a path to take as one might imagine. I involved great strength of mind to overcome the challenges she faced in her early life, and get rid of the self-doubt you could forgive her for suffering. It is true that much of her approach to life is transformed, by the time you reach the central chapters. Her relationships with Dwight Yorke and Dane B. illustrate the reasons why she emerged much stronger, and was eventually able to deal with men on her terms. Her stoicism and acceptance of her child's illness shows too, how compassionate and brave she can be. At the end, and this story is far from over, you're aware that you've just read a tour de force of a story of modern celebrity. I found myself admiring her vastly more than I thought that I would. This book is not just for those who might be classed archetypal Jordan Fans. Every student of media, the world over, formal and informal, will find this book one which delineates the relationship between the Press and the people who court publicity. And if you're one of those people who reckoned that Katie Price is just a lady with large thoractical protuberances, and little else, you'll be surprised. The strong, proud woman who emerges at the end will have apprised you of the fact that, in the preceding pages, she has given eloquent voice to an astonishingly full life. I recommend it!
Book Review: Well Done Kate! Summary: 4 StarsI, like a lot of women, used to get really fed up with fake pictures of bimbos on my boyfriend's bedroom wall. My little brother is also a huge fan of lad mags so I was always familiar with Jordan and her famous assets. I just didn't get a chance to like her much as she seemed fake like all the rest. I changed my opinion when I saw one of her documentaries and realised I couldn't have been more wrong. This book shows you such a frank and honest side of Kate. I also loved the fact that she had written this book herself. I won't pretend that it is a work of English Literature but she is articulate and comes across as friendly and witty. It?s full of girly chat and some funny details like her ex?s willies! An interesting contrast to people like Victoria Beckham who probably can't even write her own name without looking it up in Heat magazine. They all get someone else to write for them because they?re stupid and it?s so impersonal. I think it?s really nice to see someone so misunderstood setting the record straight and talking about some serious issues as well as fun ones. She's had some bad relationships just because she wants to be loved. I could relate to what she was saying about the men in her life as we've all been hurt at one time or another. This book is well balanced and very easy to read with lots of good pictures from early days to present. Her family orientated nature really shone through when talking about the support of her family, her love for her little boy and her strength to get through. She IS a good role model so go buy it girls!
