Book Reviews of Being PeaceBook Review: Full of Wisdoms Summary: 5 StarsA wonderful little book, cram-packed with wisdom about how to live more happily, put in such a simple and refreshing way. Note that 'Peace is Every Step' is almost the same book, but I think is modernised a bit further, so I prefer the latter. This is a book that you can read over and over again - every reading you pick up something new.
Book Review: A Wonderful Intro to TNH's Basic Teachings Summary: 4 StarsTNH represents a confluence of the Zen and Theravada traditions, and is a wonderful representative of Buddhism around the globe. His writing, like C.S. Lewis's, is very accessible, yet very profound as well. C.S. Lewis was Christianity's best apologist, and while I would not go so far as to call TNH a Buddhist apologist, he is very good at simplifying abstract concepts for a modern day audience. This book covers such topics as interbeing, interdependence, the five aggregates (what we are made of), the Triple Gem (Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha), the meaning of suffering and the value of peace. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in Buddhism, or the topic of peace and harmony in general.
Book Review: Essential early TNH. Summary: 4 StarsLet me start by saying I have deep respect for Thich Nhat Hanh and don't begrudge him the profits from any of his vast number of books. That said some of his later work is pretty watered down and comes of as hippy-dippy.
This book is just the opposite. Having read Anger and Teachings On Love I was really looking for something that got to the core of the man's teachings and this book does without wasting ink or time.
If you're interested in mindfulness this is the volume for you.
Book Review: The whole world should read this book! Summary: 5 StarsThich Nhat Hanh is my very favorite author and this is one of his very best books. It really shows you how you can effect everyone around you by your own "Being Peace". If everyone read this book, the world would be a much, much better place.
Book Review: Excellent book Summary: 5 StarsThis book is precious. The clear, conversational tone made me feel like he was next to me explaining.
