Book Review: finally some great stew ideas!
Summary: 5 Stars
I love the cook's Ill series - I love reading all the detail of why things worked and didn't work (must read them before cooking not as you go along) I like the slightly hokey way they read, like the cooks are in your kitchen chatting with you. The recipes are real down home style cooking - the sort of things that you can cook with kids underfoot and that they'll all enjoy. Very practical stuff, taking into account budgets and availability of ingredients - though beware they are written for an american audience and some things cannot be obtained easily, and everything in american measures. Probably why i like them having spent my childhood in the states, and learnt to cook using cups not grams.
The books do repeat themselves - all lot of the recipes and material is in the 'best of american cooking'
