Book Review: A bit disappointed...

I'm a huge fan of the Band of Brothers TV series... never read Ambrose's book.
This book, however, left me a bit disappointed. I enjoyed the few parts that were actually "new" to me, and I can't stress how much I greatly admire Major Winters, E Company, and all the heroes that have given me the freedom that I enjoy today.
I must say, though, that Major Winters came off much more arrogant in this book than his character portrayed in the mini-series and, more accurately, how he seemed in the brief interviews that were shared before and after episodes. He seemed to constantly compliment himself, then constantly attempt to "discount" himself by claiming that he is humble. I cannot blame him for being proud of himself or Easy Company -- he positively should be. However, I could do without him bashing the Army Air Forces, other airborne divisions, non-airborne divisions, etc.
There's a fine line between pride in your unit and the disrespect of others that might have fought just as hard, but hadn't been enlisted as long, been given the same challenging assignments, or been spotlighted by a famous historian years later.
