Book Reviews of Biology, 7th Edition (Book & CD-ROM)

Book Review: Bad experience
Summary: 1 Stars

The book was suppose to be in good condition but it had writing throughout it, a couple missing pages, and high lighting all over.

Book Review: Beautiful book, mercenary publisher -- caveat emptor
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a lovely textbook. It is very up-to-date and well organized. It ihas full-color printing throughout the text and great self-assessment questions. The CD-ROM (included) also has many helpful resources.

It is also VERY heavy. Fortunately, there is an electronic version of this book available through the publisher's website.

Unfortunately, access to the e-book is only possible for those who have purchased a NEW copy of the book. Purchasers of a used copy will need to pay $65 for access to the e-book via the publisher's website.

So, if you don't care about the e-book version, go ahead and buy a used copy. But if you want the electronic version, make sure the price you're paying for a used copy takes this into account.

Book Review: Best Biology Textbook, ever.
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the most fantastic textbook I have ever used, if you are taking a biology course and either need or want this book I highly recommend it.

Book Review: Best Introductory Biology Text I Have Seen
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered the Campbell and Reece Biology text for my daughter's AP biology course, and I (and she) have been enjoying it immensely. Concise introductory background information places each topic in a greater context, making connections between topics clear. The figures and tables are well constructed, clear, and packed with information. The text is extremely logical, comprehensive, and current. References to actual experiments enliven the text and remind the student that the scientific facts contained in the text are the result of constant scientific questioning and experimentation. The chapter sequence is logical and works. Overall, this is is the best introductory biology text I have ever seen.

Book Review: Best biology textbook I've read
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is very easy to read. It helps you understand the big picture without confusing you by focusing only on details. It's the best textbook I've used (HOWEVER, I have not directly compared it to other biology textbooks). But of the textbooks I have read for other subjects, etc., this one helped me learn much more than average (and I'm not even a biology major!).
