Book Review: A bit disappointed!

I was really looking forward to Sapkowski's latest novel, especially since I enjoyed The Last Wish so much. Alas I found this novel very confusing, I felt as if this was a second book in the series and i've missed out on the first, there is so much of the story missing. We get to hear a great deal about the battle of Sodden Hill and the different sieges and battles fought and conquest of Cintra by the Nilfgaardians, also we seem to follow one of the main protagonists Ciri half way through her story.
To be honest I would have preferred to read about the Nilfgaardians invasion and the realisation that Ciri has a special place in history and one that could turn the world to into good or evil than read Blood Of Elves or at least read that story first. Plus the writing is very haphazard, I don't know if this is because of Sapkowski's writing style or because of the translation from Polish to English. Plus my last bone of contention is that we don't seem to see a great deal of Geralt The Wicher which wasn't what I was expecting after reading The Last Wish because I really came to like Geralt as a character.
If you enjoy Sapkowski's work then this is worth reading but be prepared to be a bit disappointed, this novel is nowhere near as good as The Last Wish.
